Cromwellian/William and Mary/Queen Anne 1649-1714 House

Cromwellian/William and Mary/Queen Anne 1649-1714

Architecture during this period was very classical and designs started to include columns and lots of other detail. Lots of the character that was seen in previous designs started to disappear and properties started to have more regularity and order. It was also the first time that dormers and balustrades were added as well as stone corners to the brick buildings to unify the whole design.
Distinctive features included canopies over town house doorways that were carved into wood or stone. During this period sash windows started to appear.
